Vashon Community Wellness Project

The Vashon Community Wellness Project
aspires to nurture relationships
within the community and amongst individuals
through the full circle of giving and receiving
the gift of wellness.
HOW IT WORKS
Individuals volunteer for organizations in the community participating in the Vashon Community Wellness Project and those organizations give them wellness stamps for a deep discounts (most offer 50% off) for health services offered by participating providers in the community.Individuals qualify to participate according to these NET income (take home pay) guidelines:
- 1 person household: $25,000/yr or less
- 2 person household: $30,000/yr or less
- 3 person household: $35,000/yr or less
- 4 person household: $40,000/yr or less
- 5 person household or more: $45,000/yr or less.
Qualifying individuals contact the volunteer site of their choice to volunteer hours and earn wellness stamps. Volunteers will be given a wellness card that will be stamped for every 3 hours of volunteering. Stamps earned can then be used to access services or products from providers in the project at a deep discount.
Each volunteer can earn 2 stamps a month, for themselves or for members of their family such as elders, children or others who can’t volunteer. If you qualify, but can’t volunteer, you can receive wellness stamps at the Wellness Bank.
THE WELLNESS BANK
Maybe you can’t volunteer due to lack of child care, disability, illness or work more than 40 hours a week. You can access the wellness bank and get stamps for discounts on services.Individuals who don’t qualify but want to support the project can volunteer at participating volunteer sites and donate their hours to the wellness bank for others to use.

THE WELLNESS FORUM
The Vashon Community Wellness Project is dedicated to ongoing community education and sponsors Wellness Forums on Vashon. These panel presentations focus on a particular topic and provide information from a wide range of perspectives on how to support healing and wellness.
The Wellness Forums have in the past covered topics such as “Aging Gracefully” “Chronic Inflammation” and “Freedom From Trauma.
$10 suggested donation to benefit The Wellness Project. No one turned away due to lack of funds.
